FAQ

What is a coach?
A Professional ADHD Coach is a trusted collaborator that provides a supportive and non-judgmental space to help you create change, develop habits and routines, move forward and have the life that you want for yourself.

What types of people have ADD/ADHD Coaches?
Coaches work with people in all areas of their life including relationships, career, finance, health and more. Working with a personal Coach is not limited to any type of person but is best for those who want to take initiative in their own life.  Coaching is not a magic pill or a quick fix. If you are willing to explore, learn, and take some risks, you will likely love the coaching process.

Where does the coaching session take place?
While coaching in person may be ideal, it limits who you coach with and when.  Even before covid, I coach primarily by phone which provides a great deal of flexibility for those that travel or don't live in Cincinnati.  I work with clients across the country in all three time zones.

How long does a session last, and how often do we meet?
Our arrangement includes 3 to4 hour long sessions per month, based on your needs and financial ability.  I ask that you initially consider 3 months of weekly sessions in order to really gain traction. I am available between sessions to offer support.  If you get stuck, have a problem, or can't wait to share a success, please call, text or email me and I will respond by the end of the day.  I do not bill for this service but ask that you keep the calls to five minutes and the texts short.

How do I prepare for coaching?
Before we begin the coaching process, I will send you some questions that will help you illuminate your strengths, and values and start to articulate your goals.  This will also help you clarify what you would like to change in your life and what feels most urgent. The actual structure of a coaching session looks like this:

  • We will start with checking in... How was your week and how did you do on the goals that you had set for yourself?
  • We will establish the agenda for that day.  Sometimes it will be working on a long-range goal or it could be something of urgency that has occurred this past week.
  • We will explore options and possibilities.
  • We will create an action plan and address any foreseeable obstacles.
  • We will develop methods of accountability.
  • Lastly, we will recap, identify new perspectives that have been gained through conversation, and reconnect to long term goals and vision.

What can I expect from my coach?
Stated so clearly in CO-Active Coaching , " Coaches need to be clear about their commitment to their clients.  It is a commitment to dig deeply and courageously, to listen intently to the words spoken and those unspoken. The coach who is committed to clients and their ultimate goals is willing to challenge, incite, motivate, encourage, and sometimes insist that clients take charge.  It is this mutual commitment and the designed alliance between client and coach that create the safe and courageous space in which clients can do the important work of their lives."
